Paper Plate Candy Corn Wreath Craft

October 3, 2019

Are you searching for a great Halloween party craft for kids?  Look no further – this is it!  Kids will LOVE making this paper plate candy corn wreath craft, and you’ll love how easy and inexpensive it is to put together.  It’s a sweet Halloween craft project that’s wonderful for kids of all ages.

This Halloween kids craft is so cute! Make a paper plate candy corn wreath to display and enjoy!

Would you ever think to turn paper plates into candy corn?  Kind of crazy, right?  But we actually used our paper plate candy corn to make two other projects, too!  You might also want to check out our Candy Corn Counting Game (also a great Halloween party game!), and our Candy Corn Garland!

To get started on making this candy corn wreath (or any of our other candy corn projects), first read this post on How to Make Paper Plate Candy Corn.

After you’ve made the candy corn pieces for the wreath, you’ll be ready to go with this part of the project!

Here are the supplies you’ll need to make the wreath:

  • Candy corn pieces made from the How to Make Paper Plate Candy Corn tutorial
  • Another paper plate (we used a black paper plate for contrast)
  • Glue
  • Ribbon (we used three types of ribbon in three colors to add some contrast)

Now, get ready to make a cute Halloween wreath!

Begin by cutting the center circle out of the paper plate.

Learn how to make a wreath with paper plates! It's so easy and cute!

Next, create a bow with craft ribbon, and glue that to the top of the paper plate.

Add a festive bow to the paper plate wreath.

Our bow is not fancy – it’s just three types of ribbon knotted together!  You can make the bow as simple or fancy as you like!

Finally, glue the paper plate candy corn pieces all around the open part of the paper plate.  If you need to trim some of the candy corn pieces to get them to fit, that is totally fine!  The candy corn will still look great!

Kids love this Halloween craft! Make a candy corn wreath with paper plates!

Because this is a Halloween craft for kids, we used school glue to make this candy corn wreath.  That required us to set the wreath aside to dry.  If you’re short on time or want the glue to dry faster, you could use a glue stick or a hot glue gun (with adult supervision and/or operation, of course!).

This paper plate candy corn wreath is an awesome Halloween party craft for kids!

Kids will love bringing their candy corn wreaths home and displaying them proudly on the door or anywhere else in the home!

A candy corn wreath made with paper plates is such a fun kids craft.

This Halloween paper plate craft is definitely sweet, don’t you think?

How to Make Candy Corn from Paper Plates

Are you ready to see just how easy it is to make LOTS of candy corn with just one plate?

Step One

Squeeze a bit of yellow craft paint onto a paper plate.  The paper plate will serve as your paint palette!  Then, use the paint brush to paint a ring of yellow paint around the other paper plate.

Learn how to transform a paper plate into a candy corn craft!

Our yellow ring of paint extended from the outer edge of the paper plate to the inner circle.

Step Two

Now, add a bit of orange craft paint to the paper plate paint palette.  Add a ring of orange paint underneath the ring of yellow paint – making sure to leave a white circle in the middle of the paper plate.

Paper plate candy corn is so fun to make! And easy, too!

Step Three

Let the paint dry completely.  If you apply a thin layer of craft paint, this won’t take too long.

These paper plates will become candy corn crafts!

TIP: if you’re pressed for time or making these candy corn crafts at a Halloween party or in a classroom setting, consider using markers or oil pastels instead!  That will speed up the craft since drying time is eliminated.

Step Four

Once the paint is dry, begin cutting the paper plate into triangle shapes, just like a pie.

Learn how to make a candy corn craft in this post.

For our candy corn craft, we ended up with six triangles, but you could have more if you cut the triangles at a narrower angle.  Paper plate candy corn is so fun to make!

Step Five

Next, carefully round the pointed edge of the candy corn with the scissors.  Learn how to make adorable candy corn crafts with paper plates.

And then do the same to the top corners (the yellow part).  Paper plate candy corn is so cute!

Moveable Paper Plate Apple Craft for Kids

August 19, 2019

It’s just about time for the apple trees to bear their beautiful fruit and help us welcome the fall season!  This constant makes for great lesson planning for preschool and early elementary classrooms, and parents and teachers are always looking for new fall apple crafts and projects for their children.  This moveable paper plate apple craft is sure to be a hit, because it puts a spin on the old paper plate apple craft!  The moveable parts let children get a peek at what’s inside an apple!  Create a cute paper plate apple craft to welcome fall! This preschool apple craft opens and closes for extra learning and fun.

This project works wonderfully as a preschool apple craft or as an apple craft for toddlers.  They have so much fun opening and closing the apple!

Supplies Needed for this Fall Apple Craft

As with all projects on Paper Plate Fun, these supplies are the ones we used for the project as shown in this post.  We encourage you to modify the supplies to fit your needs or what you have on hand!

  • Two dessert size paper plates
  • Red paint
  • Paint stamper or dauber
  • Black marker
  • Popsicle stick
  • Green pipe cleaner
  • Glue
  • Brads
  • Scissors

How to Make a Paper Plate Apple Craft

Since this project uses paint, we suggest covering your work surface prior to getting started!

Step One

Begin by flipping one paper plate over and stamping the entire plate with red paint. Then, with it right side up, stamp red paint along the outer edge of the other paper plate.

Kids will have a blast making this paper plate apple!

Set the paper plates aside to dry.

Step Two

Once the paint has dried, cut the fully-painted paper plate in half.  Cut the paper plate in half to make the top part of the apple craft.

Step Three

Use the black marker to draw seeds on the unpainted portion of the other paper plate.  Apple crafts for toddlers are a great fall theme!

Step Four

Wrap a green pipe cleaner around a popsicle stick to form the apple’s stem and leaf.  Glue the popsicle stick to the back of the paper plate that has the seeds drawn on it.  This is the cutest preschool apple craft around!

Step Five

Now for the fun part: getting this apple craft ready to move!  Gently poke a brad through both sides of the bottom lip of the paper plate that was cut in half.  Then, align the bottom of each side of that paper plate with the bottom of the full paper plate, and press the brads through that paper plate, too.  Press the brad’s legs outward to fasten the apple pieces together.  Use brads to make this fall apple craft open and close.

With that, this paper plate apple craft is complete!  This paper plate apple craft is too cute! It opens and closes to show both the inside and the outside of an apple!

For added fun, craft a little worm out of construction paper and glue it to the inside of the plate, too.  We didn’t do that in fear that it might cause the kids not to eat their fruit anymore! 🙂  Kids will love this apple craft for fall! It opens and closes so kids get a glimpse of the inside of an apple!

Making an apple craft that lets kids see the inside and the outside of the apple enhances the learning opportunities, as it opens a pathway for discussion about the parts of an apple, the life cycle of an apple and apple tree, and more!  Create a cute paper plate apple craft to welcome fall! This preschool apple craft opens and closes for extra learning and fun.
