Instructions for Making Paper Plate Mouse Ears
We think your mind is going to be blown with how FAST and EASY these mouse ears are made! Read these instructions AND check out our project video at the end of the post, too!
Begin by tracing a soup can, jar lid, or other round object onto a black paper plate. Trace the round object in the center of the paper plate, making sure to leave the paper plate rim out of the traced circle shape.
Next, cut out that circle, making sure to leave the rim attached to the bottom part of the paper plate circle.
Trace that shape onto the second black paper plate and cut that piece out, too.
Now you have two ears, so get your headband and plug in the hot glue gun.
Once the hot glue is ready to go, bend the flaps at the bottoms of the paper plate circles backwards, and fill the flaps with hot glue (one flap at a time).
Carefully place the headband into the flap and bend the flap around the headband, forming a seal between the flap and the back of the paper plate circle.
Repeat this process with the second ear, too. At this point you have a set of DIY Mickey Mouse ears ready to go!
If you want to make Minnie Mouse ears instead, make a bow with polka dotted ribbon. Minnie Mouse seems to prefer red ribbon or pink ribbon, but you could use any color you like!
Pro Tip: we used wired ribbon to get the nice dimensional shape in our ribbon. Unwired ribbon will not be as “puffy” and will lie flatter.
Put hot glue on the back of the bow and press the bow onto the paper plate ears, and your DIY Minnie Mouse ears are complete!
See! We told you these DIY mouse ears would come together in a snap! Make sure to share a picture of your DIY Mickey Mouse ears on our Facebook page! We’d love to see them.
