How to Make Your Own Seat Sack Chair Organizer with Paper Plates
It’s so easy and affordable to get your classroom organized with these chair pockets! Follow these steps and you’ll make these in no time.
Step One
Use the ruler and pencil to draw a halfway point dividing line on the back of a paper plate.
Step Two
Cut the plate in half. Once cut, run a line of glue along the inside edge of the cut paper plate, and then press it onto the inside edge of the other paper plate. This will form a pocket. (Note: if you, the adult, is making these DIY seat sacks, you may prefer to use hot glue to make the process faster.)
Step Three
Once the glue has dried, use the hole punch to cut holes along the bottom edge of the paper plate pocket.
Step Four
Reinforce the paper plate pocket edge with yarn. Weave the yarn in and out of the holes and tie off the yarn at both ends.
Step Five
Use the hole punch to punch two holes at the top of the full paper plate, and string yarn through the holes. This is how you will tie the paper plate seat pouch organizer to students’ chairs.
Step Six
Write the students’ names on each of the seat sacks, and if desired, let the students decorate their seat pouches for a fun and colorful look! Fill the seat sacks with each students’ supplies to keep them neat and organized throughout the school year.
These DIY paper plate seat sacks are surprisingly sturdy! Although they’re not large enough to hold things like notebooks or pencil boxes, they are large enough to hold a wide variety of common classroom materials like school glue, glue sticks, scissors, crayons, markers, pencils, and more!
And, because they’re so cheap to make, you can replace them at any time if needed!
