DIY Seat Sack Chair Organizer for Classrooms

Students bring enough chaos to the classroom that every organizational hack is useful – especially when it comes to organizing students’ classroom tools!  Having students make their own DIY Seat Sack Chair Organizers is a great way to keep the classroom neat and organized, and because these seat sacks are made with inexpensive paper plates, they won’t break the budget!  So great! If you’re using these DIY back of chair organizers with preschoolers, you might want to make them yourself and simply have the children decorate their seat pouches.  They also serve as great name tags when the kids’ names are prominently written on them.

Supplies Needed to Make Your Own Paper Plate Seat Sack

As with all projects on Paper Plate Fun, this supply list is for the project as shown in this tutorial.  We encourage you to substitute items for things you have on hand!

  • Two paper plates per seat sack
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • Yarn
  • Glue
  • Marker

How to Make Your Own Seat Sack Chair Organizer with Paper Plates

It’s so easy and affordable to get your classroom organized with these chair pockets!  Follow these steps and you’ll make these in no time.

Step One

Use the ruler and pencil to draw a halfway point dividing line on the back of a paper plate. Use paper plates to make a useful seat sack for classroom organization!

Step Two

Cut the plate in half.  Once cut, run a line of glue along the inside edge of the cut paper plate, and then press it onto the inside edge of the other paper plate.  This will form a pocket.  (Note: if you, the adult, is making these DIY seat sacks, you may prefer to use hot glue to make the process faster.)Learn how to make a DIY back of chair pouch organizer with paper plates.

Step Three

Once the glue has dried, use the hole punch to cut holes along the bottom edge of the paper plate pocket.  Paper plates make a great DIY seat sack.

Step Four

Step Five
